  • Can't figure out this matchup... MMM & hellions eat up zerg as far as I can tell. I basically have been trying to match lings -> marauders and roaches -> hellions but haven't been having any luck.

    Any thoughts?

  • Rawr, I'm great at this matchup. I rarely lose games vs terran.

Basically, banelings. Throw up baneling nest after spawning pool. You can even rush now, using banelings to blow through his wall and speedlings to rip up his workers.

If you don't want to rush, grab a roach warren and whip out some roaches, micro roach and baneling on different hotkeys and micro the banelings in front of the roaches and throw them at the terran army.

As the game moves on, grab hydralisks, sometimes I even skip baneling and go roach/hydra, hydralisks kick terrans face in. Micro the roaches on the ground army and hydras on anything in the air.

    Make sure you experiment.

  • nice, I guess I do have to experiment a bit more with the new units... to be honest I haven't used banelings at all (and have barely used corrupter/brood lords).

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out.

  • Hydras are very strong against Terran, though some mutas alongside might be a good idea considering the Terran is most likely to get some tanks when they see the hydras coming.

Edit: Oh, and of course make sure if you try that, use hydras/roach combination to focus the army while your mutas focus fire the tanks.

  • Banelings, banelings, banelings, and probably some mutas in case he has tanks. Throw in some speed lings and I think you'll be okay.

  • been trying to use these banelings... finding it really difficult... only successful attempts involve burrowing them outside my base and setting them off while they are stationary, facing off against my main army.

I see the potential, but it's not that simple.

  • First of all, it may be a bit better in patch 1.1 but currently, do not go hydras against T. You will get owned by stimmed marines and owned even harder by mech. Also, the slow speed means you are screwed.

Best bet is open up with speedlings, then check what they are doing. Against mass reapers and maybe against mass hellions, consider a switch to roach but only get very few of them.

Against mass marines with marauders, add banelings. Otherwise, tech to mutas for some harassment and containment.

Eventually, you will want to end up having a nice ling, bling, muta and infestory composition, the latter to keep the bio ball from kiting your banelings.

Only then you can consider going tier 3.

  • damn i hate banelings. i`m not good with them. if i send 2 or more and one of them gets hit the others take damage too. they can be easily defended especially if the enemy base is on hi-ground

  • Im a terran and to tell you the truth brood lords destroy me if you deny air tech by harassing. Mostly zerg has to be aggressive to stay in the game.
