    Well my first game, brilliant player that I am, I got owned by the Zergs :P Second play through I noticed exactly what you stated.

    Rather than edit the map, I have decided to start a new. Much easier and quicker for me to use a new canvass to do artwork on.

    Same theme, new map, same general principles, but a different realization.

    I will also write a small lore on this, after vernam7 kindly educated me with the Starcraft manual, which I read, the relevant sections and then viewed highlighted game play of all the Terran missions.

    Well without further to do, this is the latest version of the same map. Much bolder with my design and layout, on a mega large map.

    My release plans are on schedule.

    This map is still being worked on at the terrain level...

  • I've decided to rename the map "Shelak Xel'Naga".

    The secret passage is now a water spanning structure, which separates north, south players.

    East and west there exists a small castle with a Xel'Naga tower.

    At the center of the map is the Shelak symbol, the tribe closet to the ancient Xel'Naga. Rich minerals abound at this location.

    I will write up a brief lore to accompany this map.

    Same map idea, better application. There should be plenty of room now for an initial base and expansion.

    StarCrack ALLin1 team will get this map on Friday, for beta testing.

    Here is a detail screenshot of most of the bottom half of the map. :D

  • Your main base. There is heaps of room for structures and excellent defensive positions. The map is huge.

    The secret passage has evolved into a bridge structure. North south is via a bridge, east west is guarded by a small two tier fortification with a Xel'Naga tower.

    The bases and the near expansion provide plenty of resources. Middle of the map, left and right corners are some more resources. Near the Shelak symbol are a few crystals. The focus isn't on a resource war, but on a war of logistics, strategy and tactics.

    Last screenshot for now. Here are my SCVs arriving at the base. Note the two tier fortification (better map below). That will have the Xel'Naga watchtower and covers the approaches from east west.

  • @Charlemagne Here to help if i can :). So a clean slate with the same idea. The new map looks very good again, i am loving the visuals on sc2 i must admit. This does feel like a very Terran dominating map, kind of like incineration zone. Siege mode next to the xelnaga towers would be very very strong. The looks of the narrow bridge leading to the other players also calls for a lot of drop ship play and air units which would be very fun. The high yield minerals in the middle, now that is a place to fight for. Nydus canal will also be very very strong in this map.
    Questions:
    #1: what are those at the four corners of the map? i cant seem to figure it out from the minimap.
    #2: Where are the natural expo's? is it just the one on each side of the map? That is pretty sad for Zerg, no early hatchery.
    When i think of more ill post.

  • well as i said over the support topic, i am currently compatible with olne the latest patch replays.

    that means now, if you download a replay from b.net that was played in patch11 for sure it will be launching.

    i am having some small issues with the load a replay in the previous game versions that i am working on.

    @Charlemagne HOLY SHIT DUDE you are good on this!!!!! very TALENTED! and if this only your 2nd attempt i cant imagine what i am gona see in the 10th map of you!

    btw i just had an idea, try later to learn to make the map interactive and before releasing let me have to test it cause logically with the launcher as its right now will not work.
    what i mean dynamic? raising lava, raising water - tsunami etc

    about the ALLn1 Team, you will PM the map and i will make sure those who need to get it will get it! ;-)

    Maisa, consider applying to join vernam7's StarCrack ALLin1 team, as they (we) will get one of the final betas on Friday, eg less than 48 hours from now.

    Vernam7 plz pm me a list of the current members so I know who to give the link to.

    The map will be released but it won't be finished Friday. I am sure I will want to keep working on it. However, it should be robust enough to test and enjoy by then.

    Once it is finished it will be released at the best SC2 map site ... HERE! :D

    Friday is just an inhouse preview.

    vernam7 for sure, any ideas for the future develop of maps would be great. The criteria of the map is that it is to compliment your launcher. So if you are happy with the map then the next release of the launcher can have an official map with it! This one.

    It is the same theme as I have posted before, just a reboot of the ideas.

    I am currently hand painting over the entire map! It is extremely time consuming but it needs to be done. The map needs to impress visually and the only way to do that is to hand craft the design as much as possible.

    Many of the doodads, the special structures etc are yet to be included in the editor. Just want to say that.

    In the above screenshot you can see the blue crystals and below 4 vespene gas. If you look carefully, bottom left, you can just make out the natural expansion to a high yield mineral deposit.

    A terran player can launch straight there! However, that takes time and then leaves the player more exposed.

    Bottom right I installed the Xel'Naga watch tower.

    You have a good knowledge and understanding by simply looking at a map! Some helpful insights, thanks.

    Yes the Xel'Naga structures would benefit a Terran defensive posture, however, that won't win the game.

    A competent air assault would negate many of the defenses which are by en large choke points.

    I could see the Zerg coming in with air, punch a hole through the defenses and force a Terran fighting withdrawl.

    The good thing is, the Zerg won't be able to simply swarm in and win as there are many retreat and defend points.

    Adjustments will naturally be made for any map shortcomings.
