  • Yo I saw the b.net ai option but I have no idea how that works. I have a key and everything but when I click it and press launch it appears to just load the game normally.

no it doesnt! if you select Difficulty Starcrack AI (easy medium hard or what ever) click the b.net AI and load a b.net game you only see the "Very Easy" in the AI slots BUT in truth its not and when the game launches you see the StarCrack AI 7.0.3 msg!!!

so you are making a human error 100%! ;-)

  • Don't know if i need to post it in the bug or the suggestion thread(sorry for that)

Vernam7 can you support normal meele maps from the Galaxy Map Editor, Right know we need to use "Custom" maps, with Computers in slots 2->8

Your team work is awesome, Thanks for this tool.

  • @Isurwars : Normal melee map from editor work i use a tons of them, you just need to make it with starting position and player formatted so that the launcher read the map correctly, i had the same issue when i started playing with the editor, i just looked @ a map that worked and found out what was wrong in my map (starting location & map > players properties) hope it'll solve your issue :)

  • I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but if you mean melee maps in the sc2map format from the editor, the launcher already supports it without having to use the custom map settings. Just launch them like you would launch any other melee map.

@DaRkBoZ: It's not an issue for the map makers, i have done it in all the maps i make, but that doesn't change the fact, they are not meele maps at least not with the "galaxy standar".

I just want to have the same map in nibbits and in Battle.net. The Launcher already modify that map data to "close" slots, why not "open" slots??, The launcher also check the startpoints for the minimap, so it already find how many start points are in the map.

  • Well i just told you what my issue was, the maps i was making were tagged custom in galaxy editor, after i changed what was wrong, the map info in editor was saying that it was a normal melee map and therefore compatible with the launcher.

  • Thanks for all your hard work.

I'm slightly confused about the install. In particular, the following part of the directions:

"Place the cache files in the cache folder as stated above. When updating the cache from a previous version, delete the old cache first."

What I did was copied all the folders in the cache folder that I downloaded from you. Then I pasted them into the cache folder that was at ...\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\. I said to overwrite any files that where already there.

    This is my first install.

    My questions:

1)Did I do it correctly? Or should I have manually searched for each file and then copy pasted?
2)When I need to update the cache, do I delete the whole cache folder at \Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\ and then replace it with the one I downloaded? The reason I ask is because that has much more files than the one I downloaded from you.
3)When do I need to update the cache, only with I get a new version of your utility or whenever beta gives a new patch?

    Thanks,
    bb82

  • bb82Did I do it correctly?

If you followed the manual then yes.

bb82Or should I have manually searched for each file and then copy pasted?

Does the manual say to do this?

bb82When I need to update the cache, do I delete the whole cache folder at \Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\ and then replace it with the one I downloaded? The reason I ask is because that has much more files than the one I downloaded from you.

I don't know. Test it and get back to me and I will update the manual. If you are unsure follow these steps:

    1. install over the top and if that fails,
    2. delete the cache contents and install.

Naturally you will ALWAYS make a copy of the folder as a backup and put that somewhere safe!

bb82When do I need to update the cache, only with I get a new version of your utility or whenever beta gives a new patch?

The cache is updated when a new patch comes out.

  • It seems to work.

I had a few problems with my antivirus. The launcher started and loaded a map. I've yet to test much though.

1)My biggest concern is that I tested this tool when I disconnected my internet, to see if it would work when not connected to blizzard as I want this to work when beta is over. It wouldn't launch. When I disconnected form the internet and launched this tool, it would try to open starcraft.exe or at least the icon. But since I wasn't connected to the internet, my CPU would max at 100% until I reconnected to the internet. Then this tool was able to launch.

Does that imply this tool wont work when beta is over?

2)And I'm still confused about the cache. You say when a patch is released, it is automatically updated. Does that imply that I don't need to follow step 7 of the install instruction? Or I only need to do step 7 once. I'm still confused about the wording and point of step seven:

"Download the latest cache from the following url:
    http://www.sc2win.com/starcraft-2-downloads/starcraft-2-cache-files-update/

Place the cache files in the cache folder as stated above.

When updating the cache from a previous version, delete the old cache first."

    Thanks for your time,
    bb82

There is no notice here from vernam7 that the launcher will cease to work.

bb822)And I'm still confused about the cache. You say when a patch is released, it is automatically updated. Does that imply that I don't need to follow step 7 of the install instruction?

A patch and the cache are different. Please re read the top of the manual, "Terminology".

bb82 I'm still confused about the wording and point of step seven:

"Download the latest cache from the following url:
    http://www.sc2win.com/starcraft-2-downloads/starcraft-2-cache-files-update/

Place the cache files in the cache folder as stated above.

When updating the cache from a previous version, delete the old cache first.

    1. download the latest cache.
    2. delete the previous cache.
    3. copy and paste the latest cache to stated path.

What about the idea of putting that into a text file and giving vernam7 the link?

Are you sure your starcraft installation is not corrupted or are you using last map package and not an old lost temple ? Try an other map (a recent one from nibbits) or the patch 10 package (available on the launcher page) and tell us if you still have the issue.

  • no mails sorry.
put it in rapidshare and post the link here
but i would agree the map you are trying to load is missing some textures!
also a clean reinstallation of your game would be nice!

the file that is corrupted is probably because you tried manually to add an AI and play on line?

    1. Open the launcher.
    2. Select "Maps" tab, second from left at the top.
    3. Select "Add Maps from Folder" button at the bottom.
