  • Im making a tower defence map. Its the first map i have ever made including other games wc3 sc1 ...
I wanted to do almost everything from the ground up to learn the editor, Custum units abilitys etc.

Is what i have so far its not much.. if any experianced map makers see something I could do much easyer please make a post here explaning :)

The trigger varibles are mostly arrays to hold each of the 8 players data.. well its only 1 kinda 2 players atm. I want each player to have his own timers. Pretty much thats where im at. Next step make more custom towers and wave units. Than add more player spots.

  • Wow that sounds complicated for a first map.
I just made my first one and its a simple skirmish between two teams and I can't even get the computers to do anything other than collect minerals and gas. xD

I'll keep my eyes open for any guides or people who have done stuff like your map and send them your way. :3

  • Yeah it would be great for some links or videos so we can learn from ground up.

  • There's a bunch of video tutorials on youtube from Starcraft2Tutorials and mikelat which are good for getting started, and there's more at www.staredit.net in Starcraft 2 Discussion.

  • Ohh...
    @Endymion
    Great ;D
    I love lava maps.
Remember to do a lot of effects like flaming geysers etc.

  • @akitaInu: good idea, then i must also find a way to alter the height of two different lava fields. I'll see if i can find any info on that here. But i cant overdo with the effect as it will make the map memory heavy and hard to play on older computers.

  • At the moment, to the best of my knowledge, water and lava are all restricted to one level, which is rather annoying.

  • Could you make 2 versions?
    I have Phenom II 550, 2GB DDR3 and HD4650 1Gb and SC2 work fine.

  • ok, got the lava levels covered, i just used the lavas from both char & redstone, they have their own respective height level. now its still texturing and doodad adding and then im done. Im gonna try to add it to the site as an unfinished project so you guys can follow it here. (so we can keep this thread on topic :P)

@AkitaInu: you should have no problems with lots of effects in maps. you can easely run sc2 on uhigh. making 2 versions is unnececairy, turning down graphic settings to a certain point removes effects for that player so their comps wounlnd be slowed down too much.

    EDIT: project addad as unfinished:
