i mean low perfromance in the tool, nothing to do with your game.
if the tool become WPF application windows 7 users that support Direct2D Acceleration will load it very smooth, but xp users will be like loading a small 3d game in a window, and if XP user do not have powerfull VGA and RAM it will suck!
anyway forget it, WPF applications are not ready for the world.

I can understand your views about WPF, but is that the only option to achieve an animated or 3D feel?
I don't understand the underlying programing to realize such, but from a graphical point of view, I think such would be possible.
If you wish to achieve something like this, I may be able to assist on the visual side of the equation.
Your next launcher is a major milestone and I think it does deserve all the trimmings.
Also don't worry too much about XP. If people intend on playing Starcraft 2, I doubt they would significantly be in that demographic. It is all but an obsolete operating system.
Make a nice shaded gray, blocky, Windows 95 GUI :P for those that can't run your launcher, but don't hold back with your talent and vision for the launcher.
Windows 7 is the new XP and people, especially gamers need to get with the times. That or go play pong!
@vernam7: i think you shouldn't worry about VGA. if they wanna play SC2 then a decent hardware is a given...i'm actually studying WPF atm and i'm seeing an increase in performance in terms of graphics (and in an XP environment)...
"If we've done our job right and implemented Battle.net in a great way, people will want to be connected while they're playing the single player campaign so they can stay connected to their friends and earn the achievements," Pearce explained his company's point of view. Moreover, Pearce believes that fighting piracy is a losing battle. "If you start talking about DRM and different technologies to try to manage it, it's really a losing battle for us, because the [cracking] community is always so much larger, and the number of people out there that want to try to counteract that technology, whether it's because they want to pirate the game or just because it's a curiosity for them, is much larger than our development teams." "We need our development teams focused on content and cool features, not anti-piracy technology," the Blizzard founder concluded.
thats WHY i admire them and they win Piracy at the END because they Make Quality Products instead of wasting time and money to lock something so hard that will be cracked in the end anyway!
Vernam7Everything that Locks, also Unlocks!

hmmmmm i dont thing this can happen thought lol.....
maybe but i am not an AI programmer, maybe if you make insted difficulty levels, AI types, yet again those will need to have some heavy mode on the galaxy files, but yea it can be pretty cool!

@Charlemagne
i have no problem to run the 3d tool or similars
but as a XP user ,and considering to your belief !!!! im going for pong!
and you Charlemagne go for making full 3d movie or painting , not computer program
and i have nothing to say anymore to vernam7 or you about this subject , just waiting for next version !?
Don't be like that terran58, here you go! ;)
and here you need! :)
@vernam7: i think you shouldn't worry about VGA. if they wanna play SC2 then a decent hardware is a given...i'm actually studying WPF atm and i'm seeing an increase in performance in terms of graphics (and in an XP environment)...
Is there another method of implementation or is WPF the only option?
well other option and Much harder and not worth it is Flash
but WPF besides performance has stupid Font Rendering issues and i hate then! with ClearType on or of Syryuu this font rendering sucks!
anyway i have to get back to the know and workable so far 2D :P because in few hours there is an f1 trial race :)
Well there is always the option of superimposing two images to give a pseudo 3D effect. A lot of static image possibilities.
Good to consider the launcher post 27 July 2010.
Enjoy your car racing.
This should be posted in bug reports and not general chat. Also, your question has already been answered here.
@Veior: no bugs here...its just a discussion on options about the new UI...i don't really get what you're saying...
an other guy asked something i deleted his post @Veior is ok he just answered him.

Hope Blizzard spends more time into release some features like LAN, clan support, chat, etc.
Yes, I do
However, SC2 Still being agreat game, and i need to say tanks to blizzard for beta test, and vernam7 for the beta offline test.
Cheers,

Blizzard has two expansions on the distant horizon, LAN is without question part of their plans.
This installment marks only the beginning of the trilogy.
They will add LAN, it is a marketing ploy. Expect it with the second installment and if not, then definitely with the third.
Wanting it now is the kind of interest that will push sales with they do announce it will be released.
They are a business and have a strategic model they are following.
ARE
YOU
READY
for
BETASHUTDOWN!?
AllIn1 will get flooded!
Hurry & hack LAN for us!! ;D
i wanna play on Hamachi!
dude beta will shutdown next week!
Beta shutdown got postponed, I think blizzard agreed that there were still too many bugs to fix.
Yeah it's because they messed up patch 13 and didn't wished to shut the beta down on bad terms with beta-testers :)
Good for us more test ! hope they'll make an overhaul of the map publishing system, it sucks !
well u have 1 more week to work on our request mr.vernam ;D!
request? what exactly? (dont replay LAN plz)
Walkthrought to see old replays?
Pay attention to mapster IA's contest.
The new created IA's would be very useful to add diversity in the tool.
