The new workaround doesnt eork for me but I downloaded the game instead of installing it from my retail disk so I will uninstall the game again and install from disk and test the new workaround.

Play SC2 Offline with StarTCraft Loader:

First of all I want to thank you for your efforts! You are very talented no doubt.
I have 2.0.6 (the client on blizzard is now 2.0.6). I followed your instructions: Creating a profile --> Quit --> Disconnect Internet --> Update registry with your file --> Start SC.
Problem is, it still "knows" that this is starter and doesn't let me start offline ("Cannot play offline on starter edition" error message when I enter my email/user).
Vernam7 i am going to post a new workarround solution here guys before updating the 1st page i need all of you with 2.0.6 to verify it!
unfortunatly the PM that was waiting never came, so i am sharing this with you as it is
for those that deleted the base folder, connect your internet let the launcher fix it self by updating!
its a manual solution for now but i am making a tool to do it automatically for noobs!
it may not work for everyone.-
how to enable Hots Button "new campaign" ingame button, and save loadings.
1)go to your account directory (example C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts\130000003) and open the Variables.txt file.
2)edit the following line to look like this: LastCampaignId=1
3)download and run the following registry file to update your license to hots: http://adf.ly/KmkFB
4)be very careful now, start your game offline, and if it worked you will see the title saying starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm, not Wings of Liberty, then go to campaign and you will see this screen: DO NOT CLICK any other button from WOL or chalanges because the HOTS image will disapear. exactly as it is in the screen go to the NEW Campaign button and this will start the HOTS campaign. and the next time will have continue, load etc too. but DO NOT click on any other button. if you click by accident any other WOL buttons the HOTS buttons will dissapear, close the game and re-edit the variables.txt files as i say on step 2 to fix it.
please let me know the results!
Tried your method and it wouldn't work :( When I attempted to play offline (disabled internet entirely) it said something along the lines of starter edition can't play offline. It seems to not have messed up WoL though (I own it)... have a registry backup just in case though. Tried loading the HotS save file, that wouldn't work either.
When you restart the game you have the option of selecting the difficulty, and during the first bit of the game when you unlock the central hub you have the option to go back and play on higher difficulties. It's not that long to suffer through casual/normal until you get the option to go back and up the difficulty.
@Vernam7,
I had this working fine like everyone else, and I'm doing my best to try to find a decent solution to this issue. I stopped around Mission 13 to get some sleep and then I accidently updated SC2. I'll update if I find some solution.
I have legit WOL, i dont really want to mess it up with the keygen thing I tried applying the registry change to my wol and logging in like that which has no effect, its just normal wol (i made a backup of that key so i could restore it) And starting offline with the registry thing doesnt work, i get the same error as the others, probably because i wont use the keygen since i have legit WOL
Id rather revert back to 2.0.5 if possible and play offline using that save you posted earlier
ok i've just installed the starter edition ,got it working, downloaded the save and when i load it up, it says i need to buy the game to play hots. any ideas?
This is caused by a surprise update to the game. Blizzard caught onto this loophole quickly, and now everyone is awaiting a fix. I, however, can be extreme impatient so I'm currently tinkering with the game to figure out how to rollback the game to patch 2.0.5 with ease.

I just uninstalled the game totally.
Reinstalling now and I will follow your steps again. Will report back in 15~ mins.

Vernam7, is it possible to upload a brutal difficulty save file of the prologue? Thanks
If that helps understand Here is a screen shot of all the files that got modified in my intallation today.
N.B. I have a fully licenced WOL edition. And ignore the Base24944.rar it is a backup of the folder I made before doing anything.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.
I've made -some- progress in my attempts in the rollback.
Look at the lower left hand corner of the image, and sorry if this one is far too big.

**Vernam, I just tried it again. Your new method doesn't work. Here's what I did:**
1. Uninstalled SC2 WoL totally for a clean slate.
2. Reinstalled SC2 WoL (legit license I own) and updated the game to the latest patch (2.0.6)
3. Logged in to make sure everyone works fine (it did).
4. Exited game and turned off internet
5. Changed Variables.txt and its line to "1".
6. Launched the game, it runs to log-in screen successfully.
7. I try to enter Offline Mode, then the error message says, Cannot play offline mode in starter edition. But I have a REAL full license WoL!
Maybe your registry setting wasn't accurate 100%? You are getting close.
Let me know if you have questions.
