I actually like the idea of sharing resources simply because if I go a certain tech tree sometimes I end up with a huge surplus of something and can't really spend it on anything.
I can totally see this system being exploited. One teammate is terran, loads scvs and lifts to some island expo or high yield, simply to feed resources to other player. It works well in WC3 because different races have different mining rates, for instance the undead usually have a surplus of wood (ghouls collect double wood), but lack gold. However, this is not the case in SC2. I think feeder teammates would be very common in SC2 if the sharing system is implemented.
Well, 1v1 matches are more interesting to watch anyway. 2v2 mode won't be that popular, unless it's played by people who are really excellent at teamwork.
I don't see the problem at all.. Yeah, it would be a valid tac to make a terran lift off to a high yield and feed the other player. However, imagine that his mate gets rushed by the two opponents. Boom, all those resources gone and the terran is out of tech and 1v2... insta lose. -All I'm saying is, the trading system opens up for a lot more strategies, and they CAN be countered! It's not an auto-win! Atleast I'd like to see it in a high level game before I believe it!

You know, in SC2 the mining rates are the same but the thing is, different races use differing amounts of each resource for different tech options. For example, if I'm going mass archons as Protoss but my ally is following up with a zergling-heavy army, I'm going to be constantly low on gas, and my ally constantly low on minerals. Resource trading bridges the gap there. In general, especially with the timer to prevent minerals being pooled for super-early cheap rushes, I think resource trading is fairly balanced.
The resource trading is pretty sweet if you ask me... I don't think it's all that exploitable since the game is so balanced, and it ever becomes and issue it will be patched so I'm looking at it as an all around great addition to team play.
On that note, however, I've seen very few 2v2 games where people really utilize the feature, I think it will be some time before people are comfortable with it, and I'm sure some people will stay away. I've seen it both win, and lose games in the few I've noticed the trading going on.
This terran player bunkered up quite hard, and then he just feeded the terran player with money and he just spammed the shit out of roaches, and we all know how strong roaches are. We didn't realize it until afterwards. It was pretty retarded imo.
This was one of our 10 first games so we weren't so sure on what to use against roaches either, but still. He had a ridicolous amount of roaches and they were upgraded against our unupgraded units.
we used to play 3vs3 and i use the trade system alot, i was going for zealot and all gas i mine i trade them for minerals, the only thing i used gas for was for upgrade shield, armor, weapon and the ability to run fast with zealots, then my team8 use gas to build air like void rays faster, i gave him 1000 gas and he gave me 800minerals over and over, and almost every round we won :)
also, sometimes i love to play 2vs2 1vs1 player with a computer for each player so that was going on 2vs2, then everytime i ask computer for resources 100 or 500 or 3000, the computer gave me gas and minerals every time in multiplayer, the little funny cheat to expand very fast when the other player didnt know about trade system :P
i can handle any unbalanced units in sc2 bugs graphic bugs and etc but trading resources system beetwen players iss total crap
Consider that it didn't even exist in SC1.
What's wrong with enhancing the true meaning of Teamwork?
Where two or more people help each other out to conquer their enemies
The ability to trade resources adds in allot more strategy to the game. . .

You are right jhig, but I guess that is what patches are for ;).
If they work out a few exploitation issues I believe that the whole idea could work very well in the fashion that Pistolfied had proposed.
It is exploited in wc3 too but it's not that bad.

I think it's very good. For now you can't be sure what second player can do (if you play in teams).

lol, terran should just feed zerg and rush like crazy in the beginning to slow down the enemy severely.
Of course its not an auto win. Both teams can do it anyway, I see no problem.
With this timelimit its a good addon.
I think it's good - adds another dimension to the game and makes team play more exciting.
matrayzz - what do you mean time limit?
@Donk : I think matrayzz means there should be a certain time limit you have to wait before you can start trading resources.
There is a 5 minute time limit before resources can be traded to prevent someone getting a very strong upper hand.
oic.. cant we reduce the 5 min?
No, it's a set time due to balance reasons.

Me and my mate got destroyed when we played.
