The snake thing in the middle is pretty cool. I imagine you spent more time on that than the rest of the map...
This really just looks like a lost temple clone to me. Only in this case the "island expansions" aren't islands, and the unused portion is more expansions. It looks symmetrical, and I believe it is, but it's too boring for me to want to figure out. It needs doodads. Lots of them. Also, some noise would be nice(everything just looks so flat).
It's a working map (something I'm happy to see). Add some doodads to spice up the environment and I think you'll be on to something.
