Valve's approach to Dota 2 is unusual in that the gameplay itself is remaining almost entirely untouched. "Our first reaction is to assume that [design elements are] there for a reason," project lead Erik Johnson explains. "IceFrog is one of the smartest designers we've ever met. He's made so many good decisions over the years in building the product. He virtually never makes a decision that doesn't have some reasoning behind it and a way to pick apart the logic behind it." This approach means that Dota 2 basically is DotA-Allstars with new technology.
DotA-Allstars' roster of 100+ heroes is being brought over in its entirety. The single map games take place on is functionally identical to the one that you can download for free today in the Warcraft III mod. Items, skills, and upgrade paths are unchanged. Some hero skills work slightly better due to being freed from the now-ancient Warcraft III engine, but Dota 2 will be instantly familiar to any DotA player.
It would be nice if more good maps get a stand-alone. Got any good maps you think might make it as a stand-alone game?

I don't like DotA much.. also I can't understand why everyone likes it that much, so they created 3 new games of it now.. LoL, HoN and DOTA2..
What's the point of it? Wouldn't it be more awesome, if people play it in Wc3 and more people join this.. instead of moving all those wc3 players away to their own games and cloning everything? It sucks, that people don't have creative ideas and steal other games, because they're running good, just to make some profits. Whatever.. *hurray* another dota clone >.<
One of the most popular Warcraft 3 maps is finally getting a stand-alone. Nope it's not Heroes of Newerth.

Yup i heard of it b4 Awesome! right?
Only a few days after Valve announces Dota 2, Blizzard announces their official Dota map just to spite them.
Blizzard's version will never be as great as HoN, LoL, or DOTA2.
Because they will drop it as soon as it comes out. It's what they did with every custom map they put out.

Wait blizzard allowed this? Well its not like blizzard fully owns dota since its a map made by some user.
