• This is my map, Mile High:

The intended effect is to make the map look as if it were floating in the clouds and the landscape is completely man made and setup specifically for a 1v1 skirmish. It's also supposed to resemble some what of a chess board, as if to make the battle seem like it were for pure fun between the competing commanders and to have no tactical advantage in "the scheme of things" for any of the races.

As for the design, I've taken elements from all of my favorite maps and incorporated them into this map. You may notice the Paranoid Android style small bridge and large bridge along with a single expansion furthest away from both starting points. I've also taken the rather frequent elevation changes style from Steeps of War. Other things like expansions with destructible rocks from Kulas Ravine and back entrances with rocks like various 1v1 maps are also incorporated. The rather small size and flat main level are there to try and force players to make at least one early low tier battle and to keep players from simply turtling and then rushing.

So I'll hopefully be able to get a custom 2D skybox made and maybe some 3D clouds and hopefully something to take the place of the filler texture later on. I'll try and upload a beta version of the map sometime this weekend once I can get in SC2 and make sure that it's all working.

  • Other than for proxying, which really isnt viable by the time you get flyers, I don't really see the point of the tiny area behind the rocks. Dropships would be better off dropping inside the base rather than behind a chokepoint ramp. The rocks at the front of the base (I think they are rocks...) prevent strats such as early expac from being used and severely limits gameplay. Also, i dont really see the point of the small bridge, I doubt most would rather spend the time destroying rocks and funnelling their forces into a narrow bridge rather than simply walking 5 steps further with the added advantage of being able to scout the high yield. Its a good start but could be improved alot.

  • Visually, this looks awesome. Great job on the details.

  • Yeah I've defiantly been thinking of making the bridges further apart and I've also thought of removing the rocks on the back side of the main expansions because they do seem a bit worthless.

As for the small bridge I may just axe it but I think the real point is to give the players a kind of side windows to flank when a large fight goes down on the large bridge.
