The first game goes alright, but then after that, I can't select any units period. Now I can't seem to connect with other people either (game crashes) and am reinstalling the Beta now as a result. I didn't have these problems with 7.0, but now I'm gonna make sure to have a backup for all the files Starcrack is replacing.

As for playing online you should remove the mod completely as I don't know what checks blizzard have in place to confirm the integrity of the games data files. Ive heard of people keeping two separate installation's around so they can have one for online play and one for AI play.
It _should_ work to play with someone else if they have starcrack 7.02 installed too. However this is not tested or support at the moment.
people with that problem can use our official starcrack launcher ALLin1 that implement the AI correctly and fix this bug and others once and for all!
