As a noob map maker with limited knowledge, I may have a pretty simple method that accomplishes your task.
You can create a thin boundary on your map where you see things on the edges of the map but can't move/build/select ect.
So would I suggest making a trigger to spawn only Supply Depots there instead?
Because it's out of the boundaries the player shouldn't be able to touch them, although you best put something say a cliff/trees in front of it for aesthetics and lowering the depot so it hides the fact anything is there.
