There's definetly an weakness at the start of the game where zerg has no anti-air units. The other races have cheap AA units that are available faster than anything zerg has. Zerg has to tech two times more (lair, hydralisk den/mutalisk) to get at those aa units. (I'm talking about offensive units, yeah we've got the queen and spore crawler, but the other races have offensive AA units).

I think it's definetly done on purpose and as a zerg player I have no issues with it. I scout early, if I spot anything I don't like I go lair tech a bit earlier (it's not like it's expensive). The power of zerg early game MORE than makes up for it.

I think the corruptors should at least be given some kind of change. I don't know if they've done this yet, but from what I've seen before, they were really slow and only single target.

It definitely takes a bit of tech to get decent zerg air but if you think about, they can harass their ass off until they have mutas and keep the other races from even getting tech anyway. I rarely see a zerg player not have mutas by the time I tech to air but I guess everyone plays differently.

I think zerg as a whole is meant to fight on the ground anyway, it's kind of what they're all about to me..

Me and my brother have tested the zergs air defense against both the toss and the terrans, and although good players can still hold strong at times. It seems the zerg are missing a good defense against the elite air units of the other races. Bringing back the scourges or defilers sand storm( can't remember name) ability would work wonders here.

It just seems that a good air attack seems to almost always devastate or really set back a zerg player. Mutas are strong, but it seems with the amount of anti air units both the other races have, The zerg are again at a loss there. Maybe in time we will learn more and more strategies, but I can't help but think the zerg need maybe one more unit to help out with their air defense.

Corruptors seem to be the only true zerg AA, mutas just seem too easy to kill for me. Their damage isnt that high alone and while focus firing will help, a similar number of almost any other light air unit such as vikings and pheonix, will easily kill them.

Urrgh never say the Queen is an AA. Yes, she can attack with AA, but really, who builds more than one Queen per Hatchery? They're really only for mass production of units. They're not cost effective for their poor DpS, you're better to rush as fast as you can to Hydras than spam Queens.
Spore Colon--.... Spore Crawlers** (Old habits die hard >.>) are effective defense but, as said, Zerg are kind of meant for offensive and not really defensive.
I find in short games, Zerg are the way to play, but in long games Protoss shine more in all aspects. Terran are a balance between the two.
Zerg seem to have more effective starting units with weaker end-game units, and the Terran and (especially) Protoss have less effective starters and super powerful end-game units (IE: Carriers, Motherships..etc.).
I do think a more beefy Spore Crawler would be welcomed to minimize this (sometimes) glaring weakness, but the price needs to be adjusted accordingly. For 75 minerals, expect a weak turret, if they buffed the price to 120 and made it stronger, I wouldn't mind.

the zerg is very efficient in defence... why? because the zerg have many units that can take much damage without dying.
I think that for a defense you need to have all type of units prepared in the best positions: all over your base. If you need a very hard air defense you will need ground units like hydras or spore crawler and air units like mutas and corruptors.

the actual Zerg anti-air turrets are just fine in my opinion, and they have a few anti-air units which can devestate. I dont know how many matches have been changed by brood lords, and mutas can wreak havoc in groups. they are great for harassment of the enemy. i use a handful of mutas to confuse the enemy and possibly take out the worker line of an expansion or main base.

it is true like someone else said that it is tough at the beginning to get anti air units, as zerglings and roaches cant touch air, and having a few air units against armies made up of those has really helped alot as far as fighting it.

to conclude, I think that blizzard has done an excellect job in balancing all 3 factions in SC2. any race can beat any race. but they all have certain strengths and weaknesses. that make them unique and interesting.

Zerg is the hardest to learn, but it is strongest once you learn it. Never sit there a macro up and let your enemy get comfy if you're zerg, you always have to attack, toss and sometiems terran, you cna jsut build a lot of defense and wait an hour to tech up and get a million bcs or carriers. But zerg is about never-ending attacks, your units are expendable and cheap, never show mercy. If they can't tech they can't win if their toss or terran, zerg is all about your aggro. I like to take a little control in early game with a few lings, thne in mid game i completely push out and i get up to 200 creep easily, once it took me just 3 mintues to get from 58 creep to 200. This is the power of zerg, to rebuild your forces in minutes, sometimes seconds. If you let your enemy be more aggresive than you, you lose. you have to be aggresive at all times, because your defences suck. And mass hydras, if you lure them out to an open battle, will anhilate anythign besides carriers/motherships/broodlords/Bcs so just odnt let them tech and u win.
