Ive managed to get this to run on 512MB ram but you need a video card that can do specific shaders otherwise your sol

Running the beta on 2.0ghz pentium w 1gb of RAM and can barely run single player game or rather doesnt run at an acceptable speed -units are sloooow. The install warned me that I didnt have enough RAM. Im wondering if I will just need a RAM upgrade and a new vid card or an new PC altogether

RAM and a video card, depending on the type, is probably going to run you at least $100. Look on tirgerdirect.com or newegg.com I'm sure you can find a PC more than capable of playing SC2 for under $400 that you can actually upgrade to something useful.

@Damien78: 1GB of RAM is really pushing it. Go for at least 2 to attempt to run SC2 decently.

mine is celeron 1.8ghz, 1gb ram, 512vid card but still when i installed it,

I think SC2 need Pixel Sharder 2.0 or 1.0 on Video card.
I have card from 2008 and it has got Pixel Sharder 4.0 and it was cheap.

You dont understand.
Download CPU-Z, instal it and look at instructions on your cpu...
You should see similar window to this.
Instructions makes your processor read games. And if CPU is older it havent got latest instructions and then you cant play. Even if you have 1.0 ghz cpu and latest instructions you will be able play games (play I mean 0,5 FPS, you cant play with it but you can run it) Without instructions you cant run game.

My computer is pretty old and plays sc2 at about 30-40 fps . I OC'd it from 2gzh to about 2.7 and made a world of differance

ive got a 2.5 ghz quad core cpu with 4 gb ram and an on board ati 3300hd video card at i think 512mb will i be able to play sc2 at all or am i going to have to buy a new video card for it?

Go and get new card.
You lose power of CPU cause this card.
get HD4850/HD4870 or 9600GT/9800GT.
At the moment they are cheap and they can run all games and they will handle SC2 well.
This is one of best price choice so far.

Bought the game yesterday
And i have lag playing medium resolution on 3vs3 coop game.... (when theres alots of units in battle)

I ran to the shop and bought a Radeon 5650 1Gig to replace my video card and i still have lag

And i though i had a good PC....

lmao...

Well i was in 1650x1200 resolution to follow my windows settings...perhaps ill try a lower resolution to see what it gives...the recommended in the windows says 1280x768... altough that doesnt fit full screen....i'll try 1280x800

or anyone else got an other idea?

If you take a look at the graphics settings, SC2 is EXTREMELY detailed on what-is-what

For instance, I have a horrible Pentium D 3.02GHz Process with a KICKASS nVidia 9800 GTX+ XLR8 Performance Edition (Yeah, talk about one bottlenecked computer) ---

Anyway, when I go to the video settings in SC2, it tells me what uses my CPU and what is using my Video Card, for instance my Physics which use my Video Card is on Ultra and I have a few things that run on the CPU that are on either medium or low; and I can run an all out war in perfect harmony with no lag.

You just have to tweak the settings until you are at something comfortable.

HA or u can go buy a 200 dollars graphic card... the nvidia geforce GTX 460.
u can run that on ultra settings in a huge battle with an FPS holding at around 70ish. 32x AA (i think its 32x O_O) will be at 30ish fps in that huge battle.

just a piece of advice: if you're buying a new graphics card just to play starcraft 2 on ultra settings, you might as well check out incoming games for the rest of 2010 and for the first half of 2011.

go check the system requirements of those games and make sure that the graphics card you are buying covers all of those so that you won't have another upgrade problem when those games come out.
