Hey, I have a pretty good score for 1 vs 1 only because my brother is a starcraft veteran and pro. He has played on my account and just tore up the battlefield, bumping my initial plays from bronze to platinum. Now me, not being TOO good, I have to play in platinum if I decide to continue 1 vs 1'ing. Is there a way for me to reset my league so I can face people around my skill level?

Yeah, all you really have to do is keep playing against Platinum and eventually you will be bumped down to a lower league, and lower, and lower until it finds your level. I guess if you wanted you could just jump into games and quit out. I don't know if that lowers your ladder rank or not though.
