Update: Tuesday 27 March 2012 Map: Tetrakaidecagon Players: 14 Player FFA Description: Free for all or teams. Release Date: Beta release 22 June 2012 and final release HOS + 1 month
Comments: A FFA map using the maximum player count.
Events calendar for Sunday 8 April 2012 ... Good Sunday ... Jesus Is Risen day.
* Easter 2012 Map Pack released !
* Release of this mystery map. Although created in WOL, it is to be considered a HOS map.
* Blizzard patchs affect maps. The Galaxy Editor has many bugs. What do these two facts have in common? Well they corrupt maps. Specifically tileset textures. I have gone through each of the 12 WOL maps and corrected these errors as best I can. Usually by creative work arounds for the Galaxy Editor needs code fixing.
Like their treatment of customers, Blizzard doesn't actually support the Galaxy Editor.
* A new members only section at the forum. This will provide additional content not available to the public. The maps and forum will remain free ... the maps opensource ... and this is just an incentive to those interested to become members of this community.
* I look to Ubuntu and Vernam7 SC2Allin1 as inspiration in providing free and accessible content to everyone. Like Ubuntu, my maps are opensource. There will always be the original artypixelle maps, and mods and forks will only enhance such.
* Have you worked out the name of this map yet? Another hint !
I have code that will block all of Greece and anyone using a Greek enhanced keyboard from downloading until Sunday 15 April 2012, Good Sunday for the Holy Greek Orthodox Church and I will make sure to give you full credit for bringing this to my attention!
In the meantime I will also provide a link for Latin Rite Catholic conversions for the Orthodox who feel the need to time travel one week into the future, Good Sunday 8 April 2012.
So to conclude, this is just some nonsense I am typing, and I won't do any of this! ;)
So moving right along ... I thought about explaining the green and blue layers in the screenshot map above, but that is just the water and fog, which looks askew when viewed at that angle. Using fog with a precise drop off value with water gives a nice enhanced 3D effect.
I am thinking of renaming "Tetrakaidecagon" to "Kiva Tetrakaidecagon", and using it to promote that Charity. Most charities are a waste of money, with executive and their cars and the chuggers (charity muggers) and their cut of donations. The Australian Red Cross, Mission Australia and may other "charities" won't be getting my money as ... they suck!
Kiva provides loans to approved poor persons, interest free. So I loan money, and get it back without interest. I also pay a small admin fee to Kiva to run this service. This way my charity money can be used again and again and it isn't going to some abusive chugger or some fat charity executive.
My particular interest is with helping women and I am supporting two, one in the Ukraine and one in South America. I hope to add to my list this year.
Anyway ... yeah a Lost Atlantis map would be cool ... Blizzard really need to add far more features to the Galaxy Editor. Their "when ever" 1.5 patch might have more content. Still I doubt this will be enough.
I don't particularly like Blizzard ... ummm I hate them and am boycotting them lol. I am just waiting for my account to be cancelled and then look at a total offline continuation. Starcraft 2 is no MMO for me - it is a standalone offline game.
The Easter Map Pack should be rather exciting I think ... I've made so made fixes to the maps. I am amazed how much breaks with Blizzard updates.
Oh and please join my artypixelle site when you get a chance. Thanks.
thanks for the info on Kiva but i think your maps should have more "Catchy" names and easily ti pronounce or remember to make a better impact!
on the site registration topic, i will this weekend hopefully when i have some time to do it right :)
but i would love a map called "Lost Atlantis" from you!
generally speaking mythology from Egypt, Greece, Norway, China, and other civilization can provide you with great themes and ideas to work with for future maps!
but i think i will try to wrap up my v11 of the launcher and start working with you an a Single Player map with Triggers :D
i will do the scripting you will do the amazing maps! :) lets hope our free time will be synchronized :P

I do understand the naming, but I also do like the intellectual.
Tetrakaidecagon - 14 sided ... a 14 player FFA. Kiva is easy enough to remember. Due to the immense load with 14 players, the actual art on the map will be minimal or it will be unplayable.
The Lost Atlantis is doable. Any ideas as to the design map wise, player number, and features you would like to see?
If scripting is added, there could be a story behind it, where groupings of units are found or can be persuaded to join a faction.
Do you have a storyboard idea of what would like to achieve?
I think the story should come first and that leads to the map. Then the triggers - map - triggers looping until it is finished.
I think something like this has to potential to be huge. Give Blizzard a run for their money with regards to a campaign.
There is also the option to bring in beta testers at some stage.
Many possibilities.
My time is my own. I am in the fortunate position to have no appointments other than those I create. Hence I am able to dedicate so much time to the arts ... being a multimedia artist ... music, painting, photo and film ... here I am known for my map making.
I think that this has the potential to be entered into competitions and or added to your resume to showcase your programming skills.
I have no idea about triggers ... none. All that side of things you can basically do what you wish. I don't see any problems whatsoever with realizing your map vision for a story line on a map I can create.
Anyway I can commence whenever. If you have a map shape preference, such as from a real map or Greek Island, then I can get started with a basic geography.
I can host the builds and give you the url and also at either your site or mine or both, both would probably be best ... the map can be developed.
Oh a suggestion ... with your bonus map link with SC2Allin1 ... not sure if you are already doing this, but perhaps a generic link to your hosting so that the map can be changed at anytime, simply by replacing it within the folder, using the same name.
This should definitely be showcased with v11 ... perhaps even hold off on a release until the map is done?
As I posted somewhere else ... I think v11 would have the greatest impact being released at the time HOS is released and interest peaks again.
Surely that is mere months away?
If you decide to release v11 early, perhaps just do a pre-final release? The launcher works as is already. Some fixes would be heaps ... though some will want version 15 yesterday! :P
so jelous of you about the "freetime" issue that i AM having.
in sort i am not talking about Atlantis been scripted, at least not in this stages, i dont have time.
now for future maps, i have some really really crazy and good ideas for storyling, but this is for WAY later!
sc2allin1 v11, is sometimes going fast, sometimes going slow, but the bonus map dynamic link, is something i allready done in my private beta.
about a final release, oh by i wish i could say, i keep on adding stuff, i keep on changing and testing ideas, and i never stop. :(
anyways those will be discuses in my tool page.
p.s about the atlantis map size etc, would like to see it been no more than 6!
rich environment but not only for high end systems due to lots of decals.
from a background sort story, we could say that this was once the capital city of some terran tribe in a planet, when their solar system was still young, and a commet that hit one of their moons changed the moon projectory that affected the tides and the techctinic plates of the terran tribe planet, and the entire city has gone submarine in few mins! so there should be lots of buildings etc.
this couldalso easily be adupt to a protoss tribe, but i dont know i you have many protoss buildings to use to represent a "capital" city.
now the story could also say that the mountains are now the islands, and that the old city was next so some big mineral resources nest, and thats why they keep on returning trying to extract them untill now.
but some local survivors maybe causing trouble! (that part is for scripting so forget it for now)

oh man, it sounds like you are almost done with this map, when i really need to find time to spent on it. :P
you took my ideas very seriously and i cant follow you on that ultra speed...no yet :(
so i leave it up to you if you wanna go on, and make this atlantis a nice skirmish map :)
i hope you dont get it the wrong way, but i cant assist you even thought i want this so much! :(
i have the following priorities 1)progress on my RL job project (that so far goes very well) 2)finish a personal external small project (that also goes very well and will be done this weekend) 3)go back to sc2allin1 and code like crazy, (and this will take a LONG time i even think of cutting features to make a release earlier, like the 'random war') 4)start practicing me scripting skills again with the map editor and help you out :)

Creating a 001 build map helps to focus ideas. It is no longer a mere concept, it is a practical step forward.
So with the Atlantis map, I'll return to it when you want it for code testing. I think the code testing and map creating need to be coordinated for the best outcome.

My next HOS map made with WOL editor is the:
Kiva Tetrakaidecagon
Which will be released on 22 June 2012. That will keep me busy.
***
I just had a funny thought reading your list ... with the SC2All1, have a "complain" button which, when clicked, uninstalls the program! Problem solved!!! ;)
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Artypixelle is retiring - no more maps - as at 31 December 2015.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the exciting early days of SC2. It was so much fun.
Why retire? Well other interests in my life are more important now, people I know AFK, my music and my social lifestyle.
I wish to say a special thanks to Vernam7, who in many ways, to many, was Mr Starcraft ... thank you.
Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen.

2012 Artypixelle - Easter Map Pack
actually its not Easter...yet! its next week!
catholics are not the only religion in the world!
they are just the most "celebrity" ones! :P
besides that your new maps looks just WoW!
once more from an artistic point of view, just amazing!
you could easily do a "Lost Atlantis" theme map with that underwater skills :)
Vernam7,
You are 100% correct.

Some brilliants ideas you have there!

:-)
A six player max map, so a medium sized map. Terran based.
I guess it would have to be themed. In no particular order.
1. The protoss could be on a plateau starting point, like some Greek myth oracle.
2. The zerg could be from within some depth, like a land slipped city ruined area.
3 + 4. There could be two opposing Atlantis Terrain factions.
5. There could be an invading Terrain force stranded when Atlantis started to sink.
6. There could be peoples revolt group of terrans.
That makes it a 6 count and a FFA map.
How does that sound?
Gilligans Island LOOKS great ;)
Thanks PandaZerg!

Vernam7 ... some concept art. Map build 001 !!!
The map really needs to be seen full scale, so:
